I can’t say exactly when I first felt as though I was grown up. Age is more of a gradual gradient from birth to death than a series of steps from infant, to child, to teenager, to adult. One part of diverting from childhood, I think, is confronting situations you are not prepared for and, rather than shutting down, just handling them. Part of adulthood is being able stave off the desire to freak out until the situation has been rectified. And throughout the past year or so I have begun to develop that skill.
